Hi there and thanks for visiting my blog. My name is Jonathan Ponton and I’m a Technical Architect based in Petrh, Western Australia. I’ve been working in the IT industry for over 12 years, and during that time I’ve been fortunate enough to gain a broad range of skills through a variety of positions in the industry.
I specialise primarily in the Microsoft core infrastructure technologies, including Windows Server, Exchange, OCS/Lync, the full Systems Centre suite and SharePoint. My focus with SharePoint is purely regarding the infrastructure components as opposed to anything which happens in the dev world. I have architected over 100 SharePoint farms, ranging from basic 1 server environment all the way through to multi-homed 3 tiered SharePoint farms storing terabytes of data. I have also plenty of experience in presenting my knowledge and experiences in front of peers and local IT communities.
Although these days I tend to take more of an architectural role in my work, I still enjoy rolling my sleeves up and getting down and dirty with the latest technologies; hence the purpose of this blog. I believe IT Managers worldwide will quickly begin to realise the benefits presented by cloud based technologies and solutions and as an architect and implementer I am interested in the technical challenges surrounding this, and the exercises required to make transitioning as seamless and invisible to the business as possible.
Outside of the Microsoft technology space, I also have considerable experience in Data Centre design, ICT Strategic Reviews and Technology Roadmap Development.
I hope you find the information in my blog useful.
